Hi Mastodon people, long time no see! Work has been hectic for me in the past six months or so, but I finally have time to relax.

This is the poster I've painted for les Aventuriales, a SFF book convention that will take place on the last weekend of September in Ménétrol (near Clermont-Ferrand), France. Some of you may already be familiar with this robot -- I reworked one of my personal pieces for them, extending it vertically and adding some books to it :)

🤖 WE ARE SEARCHING FOR A ROBOT 🤖

please boost!

when preparing for our upcoming show in madrid one of our uarm swift pro robots died on us 🫣 we now urgently need another robot.

the uarm swift pro was quite the hit in maker circles some 10-15 years ago, which means that some of you dear hackers might have one or two of them idling in storage... can we have one? willing to buy, willing to rent ❤️

Observations about #robot #coffee.

I went to “Artly” in Seattle. The coffee is really tasty. I go because of the beans. Their schtick is that the robots make coffee (see video in next message). I want to point out a few funny observations.

1. At the checkout station the sign says “all tips go to human employees.” Which is nice. But why? What am I tipping them FOR? All they are doing is keeping the coffee bean hoppers full. They’re not making my coffee. Why would I tip?

2. They close? They have opening hours and are totally closed on Sundays? They’re fucking robots. Why do they ever close? (The answer, of course, is that they’re not reliable enough to run autonomously.)

But watch the 90-second video in the next toot to see the other observation.

Going to export my robot bust to Blender for a Cycles rendering. Changed all scene occurrences of one color to black, and the other to white, so I can use the exported vertex colors as a mask to distinguish between two materials.

In this rendering, the blacks and whites are shaded, but the exported model will have pure black and white areas.
