What would you use these days to send out emails with auth codes for a small-ish web app? I have no interest in using Sendgrid, Mailgun, etc. I just need something to send out emails from `no-reply@example.com`

I don't even need to accept incoming email.

Every time I look at #mailbox providers, I get happier about my #Runbox.

I just gave a look at #Migadu, which was heavily recommended in some threads here. In 5 minutes I found 3 things I don't like:

1) No explicit pricing to get more storage space beyond the plan's default.

2) Says servers are "in France" but doesn't say with whom in the #privacy policy.

3) Prohibits "immoral, unethical or socially unacceptable activity".

New post where I list out some of the things I am considering as I am trying to find a replacement for my #email provider. As I am considering leaving #fastmail for a different options that are out there. I am curious if others have thoughts and would be interested in reading my thoughts and reply to my post here on the #fediverse with some thoughts.

然後看到了 id=43266096 這個 comment: > Wow... having just gone through a 20+ hour byzantine nightmare of setting up postfix & dovecot Did you do… blog.gslin.org/archives/2025/0 #dns #domain #email #mail #spam #workaround

They've already posted 29 videos, if these haven't federated to your server yet you can browse them all at tilvids.com/a/thunderbird/vide

They also have a general social media account at @thunderbird@mastodon.online

A message to email-sending web app developers (my setup's been accidentally stress-testing apps like yours):

If you send me automated response emails with a token, please fill the token in correctly in *both* the HTML and text formats - if you leave a handlebars-like "{{token-here}}" in the text view's URL that I click on, it might be quite a while until I realise it and I will break your automated workflow...

Please fill it correctly, or don't send it. Thanks!

Does anyone know of a style of internet communication that's built security-first?

I've seen a few posts recently about how email wasn't designed to be secure, it was supposed to be for coordinating academics working on different university networks. Makes sense.

Now I've read that IRC wasn't designed to be secure coz you're supposed to be able to join and join in. Makes sense.

The UK government is currently unscrewing all the security panels on apple and android devices so they can read your messages if they feel like it. Hate it.

Obviously (?) DMs on here are subject to server moderation and ActivityPub wasn't built security-first either. Makes sense.

So what is? I am stuck handwriting letters and posting them?

Please don't recommend Signal, I have Signal. It's fine.

Fun fact: if your email address has a + sign in, you're going to have a very bad time with Chase bank.

One of my accounts has an old email address with a + sign in. I get an email (to my new address) once a month saying my email address is incorrect. Yes, ironic.

Only ~25% of their staff can even _find_ that email address on my account. None can remove it as the removal form says it's an invalid email address format. I've spent 3 years trying to fix this with them.

Normie noob question alert: is there anywhere that offers a comparison of the following email providers?

Mailbox
Mailfence
Posteo
TutaMail

I'm trying to divest from Google's ecosystem, so looking for somewhere to set up for the long-term (preferably based in the EU).

Any and all replies are also welcome. Thanks, folks!
