Thank you for reading and caring.
PLEASE #repost.
Don’t just like, #share.
The more informed, the more queens survive and the more #bumblebees we have.
Simple.
Our native wild #bees are in serious trouble and we need to be there for them every way we can.
Thanks again for helping!
For caring.
For sharing.
A little bit of good in a world that so needs it.

These ‘between flight stopovers’ can last for up to an hour and #bees are not always careful about where they take them - sometimes the middle of a footpath can be the ‘ideal’ spot! So if you see a big #bumblebee chilling on the ground don’t always presume she needs rescuing!

It’s that time of year - people asking us about #bumblebees - WHY THEY’RE SEEING THEM ON THE GROUND - so here’s a thread to explain what they’re up to.
Please #repost.
Every #queen that survives means a new colony that gets to exist & produce new queen #bees for next year!
So this is important to share.
Thank you.

Late?
Have you seen the pollen baskets on this hard working bumble?
Who cares about late when I bring you such wonders. On a regular basis. A very regular basis. All the time. Every day. For free…for free?…wait a second…😂

Bumblebees transport pollen in ‘baskets’ on their hind legs and nectar in their honeystomach. They can carry their body weight in nectar and up to 90% of their body weight in pollen. What they carry affects how they fly.

Aaaand Toyohito is back!!! Present is ready and inked! :D Ink smudges are because it's the first time I tried out sumi ink and it seems that it takes its time to dry... -_-

Feel free to comment! I just hope you'll get a laugh out of it!

(Note on the text of the final bubble: And they say bees are smart...sigh)

Hello fellow fediverse denziens. I just deleted my #Facebook account and moved here. I didn't use #Twitter or #Instagram, so if I do weird things here that's probably why. I will, for example, use full sentences and the Oxford comma.

I live in #Portland, #Oregon with my wife and cat. I am currently trying to escape the corporate world, where I work as an #infosec professional. I am an #OSU Apprentice #Beekeeper and have two hives of #bees. And they're still alive!

New to me, it seems bee eyes will reflect the colors of the flowers or pollen when the light & angle & all the other infinite parts of photography come together.

It's something I'm noticing as I'm working through rightsizing my backlog of photos.

Here's one...a wild native bee, maybe Ceratina, on a cornflower, Centaurea

I remember seeing yellow pollen reflecting in another photo. If I can find it, I'll add it in.

#Bumblebee population increases 116 times over in 'remarkable' #Scotland #rewilding project

"‘The sound of traffic and a uniform sea of barley have been replaced by the most beautiful #meadows, full of #wildflowers, young saplings and the buzz of #bees’"

by Katharine Hay, 26 Nov 2024

"The bumblebee population has made an impressive comeback in a developed area by increasing to 116 times what it was two years ago thanks to a nature restoration group.

"#RewildingDenmarkfield, a 90-acre project based just north of Perth, has been working to restore nature to green spaces in an increasingly built up area for the past two years."
