If you’re in the San Francisco Bay Area and you’re interested in the future of news, you might be interested in an event @SFPublicPress is hosting. On March 13, there’ll be a special screening of “Stripped for Parts: American Journalism on the Brink,” a documentary by Academy Award-nominee Rick Goldsmith, about hedge fund Alden Global Capital, which has been gutting local papers across America.

"The San Carlos Airport, a hub for Silicon Valley businesses that lies along the approach to San Francisco International Airport, will no longer have air traffic controllers guiding planes in and out of the airport starting on Saturday, according to airport manager Gretchen Kelly.
"The airport’s controllers resigned after the Federal Aviation Administration changed contracts to a controller firm with lower pay that does not 'account for the high cost of living in the San Francisco Bay Area,' Kelly said in a news release."

Walnut Creek's free repair café will be on January 25, 2025 from 10am - 1pm at the Civic Park Community Center Assembly Hall (1375 Civic Dr, Walnut Creek).
This is the first repair cafe I have seen in our vicinity. I hope this becomes a more regular thing in nearby cities. #RepairCafe #WalnutCreek #SFBA

OK, for all the SF Bay folks who just got that (loud) tsunami warning… do I need to head to the hills?
Kinda felt that a little in Oakland.

Plein air in San Francisco
My last post is mostly paintings of hills and the ocean. That's right, it's another watercolor episode.

A peaceful and beautiful setting. Love the architecture of the Berkeley City Club, built in 1930 and designed by architect Julia Morgan.
Anyone organizing in san francisco? What are you up to? Can I help?
2024 Mayoral Election
San Francisco mayoral candidate Mark Farrell has agreed to pay a $108,179 settlement to the city's Ethics Commission after it alleged Farrell violated campaign finance rules. It's the largest settlement in the commission's history.

Although the Nonprofit Industrial Complex has some sophisticated gatekeepers barring access, I've renewed my efforts to find San Francisco Bay Area cooperators interested in my proposed nonprofit for unique S.T.E.A.M.-focused ArtScience demonstration projects that serve the common good.
While general participants are welcome, I need the commitment of board-level founders.
