Kentucky has closed down several mine safety locations.
Coming from a family of miners, watching what has happened when some moved to non union mines, I've seen first hand what lack of mine safety does to a person and a family.
I have a family of 4 with a #transgender child in critical need of #mutualaid
In addition to their child facing discrimination in #Kentucky, the mother has lost access to medications she needs to live and is starting to die as her immune system attacks her whenever she eats.
They have a solid plan for how they are going to move to #Washington , and they do not need a lot. Timing, however, is critical!
Let’s get these folks out!

Disability rights are under attack in 17 states!
There’s a lawsuit trying to get rid of Section 504, the law that protects disabled people in schools, workplaces, and public spaces. If they succeed, it means:
Schools wouldn’t have to provide accommodations (no extra test time for ADHD, no wheelchair access, no diabetes care in class). Workplaces wouldn’t have to adjust for disabilities (no remote work, no flexible scheduling, no accessibility requirements). Public spaces could ignore accessibility needs (buildings, buses, and services wouldn’t have to be usable for disabled people).
These 17 states are trying to gut 504 protections:
Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia.
If you live in one of these states, contact your state reps & governor! If this lawsuit succeeds, other states could follow, or it could reach the Supreme Court and hurt everyone.

HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR!!!
I timed my kiln firing so these year of the snake themed cups and saucers would enter the world at the Lunar New Year.
They are hot out of the kiln, and i haven't had time to make studio photos, but here are a couple snapshots of our latest cups and matchy-matchy saucers!
It's another snowy day in Kentucky!
I'm not sure why, I love sharing process photos of pottery and printmaking, but i'm not as comfortable sharing work in progress when painting.
My painting mindset is very different: I don't want to share until i've worked everything out.

Unloaded the kiln to 4 new #teapots --including this #goat and #owl and a bunch of other wheel thrown #porcelain goodies!!!
Teapots are considered the ultimate test of a functional potter and after lots of practice and failures:
I'm happy to report that all the lids fit, handles feel good in the hand, and they pour great!!!

I love snow days! Can't go out, so I'm staying busy in the clay studio. Just finished decorating these cardinal cups. A combination of painting, carving and inlay--the colors will be richer after going through the kiln--stay tuned--and stay warm!!!

The forecast calls for a winter storm tomorrow in Kentucky! My favorite weather---perfect for staying home and making more pots!
I have been working on spice jars with fitted lids--lots of measuring--and am happy to have finished decorating this grouping ***with more OWL and Oak leaf designs!!!!! Can't wait to put them in the kiln once they dry out.
