From a series of voxel art tributes to childhood game nostalgia I made in the 2000s.
As there were no voxel editors yet, I made them by extruding polygons in 3ds Max.

Pong (1972)
Pong—the arcade legend that started it all!
This 1972 masterpiece by Atari turned video gaming into a global phenomenon. A simple game of virtual table tennis became the foundation of an entire industry. Ready for a round?

The Breakout franchise is making a full return, with Atari announcing Breakout Beyond, developed by Choice Provisions (the studio behind BIT.TRIP).

From floppy disks sent that Witte to me, I was also able to recover a copy of Flower's previously unreleased Atari ST puzzle/platform game he created in GFA BASIC titled "Dark Fortress".
You can download and play this "new" game today on your Atari ST or emulator!

Witte and Flower met through their local Atari users group -- "Central Utah STar Group" -- in Orem, Utah. Flower had submitted NEOchrome art with "swirling purple clouds and stuff", which caught Witte's attention.
They teamed up on Thieves Guild, and then years later they formed "Mythyn Interactive" to develop the MMORPG "Linkrealms."
I interviewed them during the 2020 pandemic year.

Thieves Guild is a little-known but truly amazing BBS game.
Paul Witte and his friend Herb Flower produced physical feelies that users could buy, like a parchment-style world map.
They also created a graphical front-end client with fantastic pixel art. I have never found another BBS game with such amazing, detailed graphics.

A few years ago, I curated and published the "Mythyn source code repository." You should check it out!
https://github.com/Kirkman/mythyn-archive
It's a collection of BBS door software, written primarily by Paul Witte, including ...
• Two versions of the unique Atari ST BBS game "Thieves Guild"
• An incomplete/early demo of the graphical Thieves Guild front-end client
• A previously unpublished PC port of Thieves Guild
• Other Atari ST BBS doors
Hey groupmind - I am looking to buy two long out of print reference books but do not want to give any money to Jeff Bezos. Does anybody have a line on a decent copy of De Re Atari or Mapping the Atari? Please boost for visibility. #retrocomputing #atari
