That guy hacked his air purifier, reversed part of the Android app, then the PCB, downloaded the firmware and reversed everything .. to integrate it to HomeAssistant! :o

Didn't know about MessagePack nor esp32knife.

James Warner · Hacking a Smart Home DeviceHow I reverse engineered an ESP32-based smart home device to gain remote control access and integrate it with Home Assistant.

Poszło gładko, i sprawnie.

🔋 Testing the HomeWizard Plug-In Battery with Home Assistant

This new device claims to be a plug-and-play home battery that should work with Home Assistant—just install it yourself, no electrician required. But does it actually work as promised?

I unbox it, set it up, and put it to the test! Watch here: youtu.be/WOxB-d-ofj4

I have a problem I would like to solve on a technical level.

There is a set of resources. I use a single resource at given time. The resource is used for some time, then I switch to use another resource. After the switch the previous resource needs to regenerate for another period of time. The problem I would like to solve is to:
a) find the list of available resources (that means, all the items who has got enough of rest)
b) with the information how long resource has been in resting period.

Do you know if there is something in #HomeAssistant which would fulfil my needs? I am able to write some automations from scratch, but I am a little bit too lazy to do that right now 😅

hey fedi (and #HomeAssistant)

is there any way to preprocess sensor data before ingesting it into HA?
my use case is i have a humidity sensor that returns bad data for most of its readings (seems like 16 bit integer overflow since it's very very close to 655.35%) and i'd like to drop all data that returns a humidity value outside of 100% and ignore it entirely
since sometimes this sensor returns a valid RH value between 0 and 100% i'd still like to be able to have usable data

even better yet is if it'd be possible to apply this retroactively and drop all data in the past with this

my current solution is just hiding the sensor and not using it but i'd love to use it to automate a humidifier that i'm getting soon
