This was a fun quick procrasti-project. It's double-sided too (it's a blinking question mark after all)!

I don't have a multi-filament printer so I implemented a satisfying no-glue snapidy-snap system to print the distinct black and white parts (but there's also a file in there if your printer can do multi-colour!)

It can also be a luggage tag, or keychain, or just a fidget token (it's got a nice heft to it).

An updated #Introduction for 2025:

I’m a mom, #cat whisperer, #maker, avid #reader, #gamer, and #dice goblin. I’m a #chemistry #professor and #education #researcher. I love #traveling, #cooking, #photography, #tattoos and #3Dprinting. Ich spreche und lese etwas Deutsch. I use #Mac and #Linux machines and bought a mechanical keyboard for my birthday. I love #DnD and my #SteamDeck. #Masotodon is my primary social media and I love it here.

I contain multitudes. So do you.

800 lines of :nixos: #nix later and I have successfully beefed up our #3dPrinting infrastructure at work @umphy with one #RaspberryPi 4:

· a gethomepage.dev landing page
· three fullHD webcams, one for each printer, with current filament visible
· a smart #Tasmota multiplug to remotely power off a printer in case of a problem/hangup
· 🐙 #OctoPrint for the Prusa MK3S, #PrusaLink by the #PrusaMINIs
· 🔐 all password-protected and certs from #LetsEncrypt

After my first failed attempt to print some shoes 👟 in TPU couple months ago, I started over yesterday night. This time with less infill, only 1 Perimeter and a fresh roll of TPU printing from the dryer.

So far it looks promising 🤷

I need to look into some 3D printable accessibility aids. I already found one for opening bottles I'm going to try. Hopefully the infection will go away but with a fracture in my hand it might be quite a while before I can do things with my dominant hand that require a lot of pressure, much less before it gets back to normal, and while I can do some things okay right handed there's a lot of things I can't. For example with opening a bottle I need to be able to grasp the bottle strongly AND twist with my non dominant hand so the only way I got one open before was using adjustable pliers and holding the bottle with my legs. Even with a tool I probably need to hold it in my legs but pliers were a shitty tool for this even if it eventually worked.

If anyone with experience in #3dPrinting #accessibility aids that helped you or someone you know with use of one hand or limited use in a second hand let me know what you found useful! I can obviously just search some tags to see what's out there and I'll think about it when I come across things I struggle with but I don't want to just keep printing things at random hoping they work well. Human recommendations are very helpful with 3D prints since anyone can upload any old shit lmao

Overdue #Introduction:

Hi, I am one of those computer touchers, located in #Berlin, in my late 20s, and this is my first time on any social media.
I have lots of interests (yes #ADHD), like #Vegan #Cooking, #Photography (often #Pets), anything #Space, #Gaming and #GameDev, recently #3DPrinting, trying to do good, the list goes on.
Really enjoying this online space so far, hope to meet and talk to more awesome people on here.

Also some sample pictures I like (with alt-text, of course).

If you have an old 3D printer kicking around at home, do yourself a favor and install Klipper on it.

It's pretty ridiculous what you can still get out of an eight year old machine like the Anycubic Mega S or an Artillery Sidewinder X1 with the help of a bit of input shaping.

The hardware hasn't changed all that much in the last ten years or so. We still use pretty much the same steppers, drivers and kinematics. It's all in the software.
