Since at least 2014 or so it's gotten genuinely impossible to actually track the scale how "popular" Vocaloid is, just because so many of the traditional measures of how to measure such a thing are either specific to Japan only, or they have no such equivalent in the West (or both). And there are so many *different* possible scales and measures to use that it's hard to know what standard you use to even judge it.
